More than 104,000 donors from nearly 100 countries came together to give an historic $2.641 billion, setting a new record for Canadian philanthropy. This extraordinary achievement is a symbol of how the University of Toronto’s global community continues to imagine a brighter future for our city, our country and our world.

Our supporters’ generosity during the Boundless campaign, which closed on December 31, 2018, enabled talented students to receive a world-class education, reimagined the city skyline with transformative new spaces for students and faculty members, and fuelled groundbreaking research across diverse fields and disciplines.

Thank you to all who support U of T. With you, the future is truly boundless!

“I think young people have the power to transform their communities and their countries.”

— Emmanuela Alimlim (BA 2018 WDW)

BOUNDLESS MOMENTS

The Boundless campaign has touched the lives of donors, alumni, faculty and staff members, and students around the world, as well as the countless others who have benefited from the University of Toronto’s leadership as a centre of education, research and innovation. Here, a few of them share their appreciation in their own words:

“I feel lucky that we were successful enough that I can give back to others.”

— Judith Schurek (BASc 1958)

Judith is one of the first women to earn a degree in mechanical engineering at the University of Toronto, and gave $1 million to establish two Pearson scholarships, in her name and her late husband’s.

“I think young people have the power to transform their communities and their countries.”

— Emmanuela Alimlim (BA 2018 WDW)

Emmanuela grew up in rural northern Kenya and was able to come to the University of Toronto courtesy of the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program.

“I gave to the Boundless campaign because I was so impressed with the Toronto/Addis Ababa academic collaboration and the excellent work being done in Ethiopia.”
