OISE is one of the world’s leading institutes of education, recognized as a global leader in graduate programs in teaching and learning, continuing teacher education, and education research.

Education is at the core of Canada’s ability to be successful in an ever-challenging global economy. The international emphasis on our economy along with the need to ensure more social cohesion in our communities and our nation, provide a demanding two-sided coin that requires the best of our education systems. OISE will meet the challenges of ensuring that teachers, schools, colleges and universities support the needs of learners in diverse communities at home and abroad. It is crucial to build a strong education system which will support a successful economy and a democratic and just society.

OISE’s campaign efforts will help the Institute respond quickly to this increasingly diverse, technologically advanced and changing economic environment with effective and culturally sensitive teacher education, research on curriculum and pre to postsecondary education policies. The goal is to make all levels of education relevant, inclusive and accessible and more likely to produce innovators and problem-solvers so that everyone can contribute to our community socially and economically.

At present, OISE’s campaign priorities include student diversity development support and two emerging priorities that hold promise for a future that will be healthier, safer, more just and prosperous for the many rather than the few.
